In Yavoriv and the settlement of Verkhnie Syniovydne, people will bid farewell to the fallen defender Nazar Romaniv, who, after a long period of being missing in action, returns home on his shield.
Romaniv Nazar Dmytrovych was born on 22 January 1999 in the town of Yavoriv, Lviv region. From childhood he was involved in sport, and loved football and athletics. He studied at Yavoriv Secondary School No. 2 and later entered Novoyavorivsk Vocational School, where he qualified as a waiter-barman.
From 2019 to 2021 Nazar did his compulsory military service, after which he returned to civilian life and worked. Following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, on 5 March 2022 he voluntarily joined Ukraine’s defence forces. He served in the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo.
According to available information, on 28 February 2026, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Kandybyne in Sumy region, Nazar Romaniv went missing in action. His family waited a long time for news of him, but recently received official confirmation of his death.
After months of waiting, the warrior returns home to his family — his wife Nadiia, daughter Emilia, father Dmytro, mother Ivanna, brother Marian, as well as to all his relatives, friends and fellow townspeople.
The funeral service will take place on 10 September at 14:00 in the settlement of Verkhnie Syniovydne, Stryi district. For the family and all who wish to accompany Nazar Romaniv on his final journey, the town council is organising a bus. Departure is scheduled for 10 September at 10:30 from the “Premier” shop in Yavoriv; after the burial the bus will return to the town.
The community is urged to pay proper respects to the fallen warrior and honour the memory of the defender who gave his life for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. Sincere condolences are extended to the wife, daughter, parents, brother and all the family of Nazar Romaniv.
