The Zhovkva community has received painful news: 38-year-old Taras Kharachko from Zhovkva, a serviceman and defender of Ukraine, has died suddenly.
From the first months of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Taras Kharachko joined the ranks of the defenders as part of the State Special Transport Service. He served and fought in the Zaporizhzhia sector. In September 2026, the serviceman was discharged from the service.
For his courage and bravery, Taras Kharachko was awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s distinction “Golden Cross”.
The community extends its sincere condolences to the defender’s family and loved ones — his parents, sister, brother, wife and three children. They are wished strength to endure this heavy loss.
A Parastas (memorial vigil) for Taras Kharachko is scheduled for 30 September at 19:00 in his family home at: Zhovkva, 144V Lesi Ukrainky Street.
The funeral service will take place on 1 October at 12:00 in the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Christ in Zhovkva, after which the funeral cortege will proceed to the municipal cemetery on Yaroslav the Wise Street.
