International veteran cycling expedition “HopeRaising Expedition” to cross Ukraine

From 24 August to 4 October 2026, an international veteran cycling expedition, the “HopeRaising Expedition”, will cross Ukraine, covering a distance of more than 2,100 km. The initiative will be implemented by the public organisation Elevate Ukraine (USA).

Canadian veteran and amputee Jacob Kepka is taking part in the expedition. He plans to complete the route across Ukraine by bicycle to draw the attention of the international community to the needs of Ukrainian veterans.

The project is aimed at supporting Ukrainian war veterans, developing veteran leadership, promoting physical activity and rehabilitation, as well as facilitating the integration of veterans into public life.

Between approximately 20 and 24 August 2026, the expedition route will pass through the territory of Lviv Region. While the participants are in Lviv Region, events involving war veterans and members of their families are planned.

Veterans, their families, as well as the families of fallen (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine are encouraged to follow further announcements about events within the “HopeRaising Expedition”. The finalised route, timetable and venues for events will be announced additionally once detailed information has been received from the organisers.
