In the fighting for Ukraine, a native of the village of Mervychi, Petro Tohan, born in 1987, was killed. The loss was reported by the Kulykiv settlement council of Lviv district.
The defender was killed on 5 August 2026 in the area of the settlement of Hirske in Chernihiv region while carrying out a combat mission. The report states that the serviceman remained faithful to his military oath and to the Ukrainian people, and bravely fulfilled his duty in the struggle for the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of the state.
The Kulykiv settlement council expressed sincere condolences to the fallen warrior’s family, loved ones and comrades-in-arms, stressing that they share their pain and honour the blessed memory of the fallen hero.
The date and time of the arrival of the fallen defender’s body and the funeral service will be announced additionally, as stated in the report.
