Lviv will say goodbye to defender Volodymyr Vorobets on Wednesday

On 11 December, a farewell ceremony will be held in Lviv to honour the memory of Volodymyr Vorobets, a soldier who gave his life for Ukraine.

Ukrainian defender Volodymyr Vorobets, who died heroically on 3 December 2024, will be buried on Wednesday, 11 December. Lviv City Hall calls on residents and guests of the city to honour the memory of the hero by refraining from entertainment events on this day.

Farewell ceremony

The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am in the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The fallen soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The life story of a hero

Volodymyr Vorobets was born on 11 September 1986 in Lviv. He studied at Lyceum No. 18, did his military service in Lviv, and worked for over ten years at Fakro Lviv. In peacetime, he was fond of football and was a kind and cheerful person, as his family recalls.

From 2015 to 2017, he performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone as part of the 80th separate air assault brigade. From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Volodymyr Vorobets defended Ukraine on the southern and eastern directions. For his heroism, he was awarded the Steel Cross badge.

Family and memory

Volodymyr is survived by his mother, son, daughter and sister and their families. His name will forever remain a symbol of courage and self-sacrifice. Lviv residents are deeply saddened to say goodbye to the hero who gave his life for the freedom of his country.
