Tomorrow, on 23 November, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Mykhailo Novyk, who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers.
The City Hall calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.
The funeral rite for the defender will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Later, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.
The defender’s biographical information
Mykhailo Novyk (18.11.1986-11.11.2024). A resident of the village of Zavadiv, Lviv region.
He studied at the secondary school №27 in Lviv. Lviv named after the Heavenly Hundred hero Mykhailo Verbytskyi. While studying at school, he was a professional boxer and won numerous competitions. Subsequently, he studied to become a plasterer at the Lviv Higher Vocational Polytechnic School.
After graduation, he worked in his speciality.
According to his family, he was a wonderful person and a loyal colleague who was always ready to help people. He was extremely kind and sincere.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invasion of the Russian occupiers. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the north-eastern direction in the ranks of the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of Bukovyna.
The Hero is survived by his mother, two sons, a daughter, six sisters and three brothers.
