On Thursday, January 25, Lviv will bid farewell to soldiers Mykhailo Yuskiv and Mykhailo Osym, who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The city administration urges residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from holding celebrations on this solemn day.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. Following this, around 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will take place at Rynok Square.
Both fallen soldiers will be laid to rest at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
Biographies of the Heroes
Mykhailo Yuskiv (September 6, 1985 – January 19, 2025)
Mykhailo Yuskiv was born in Lviv. He graduated from the Ivan Puluj Lyceum and worked as a driver at the municipal enterprise “Lvivelectrotrans” in recent years. A music enthusiast, he was deeply loved and cherished by his family for his kindness and sincerity.
When Russia’s full-scale invasion began, he joined the fight to defend Ukraine. He served in the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Anna of Kyiv, carrying out combat missions in Donetsk region.
Mykhailo is survived by his parents and sister.
Mykhailo Osym (September 18, 1987 – January 19, 2025)
Also a native of Lviv, Mykhailo Osym graduated from Secondary School No. 34 named after Markiyan Shashkevych. After completing his education, he worked as a manager at “Praktyk-A” LLC. He was passionate about sports, history, and literature.
During the full-scale invasion, he joined the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces, serving in the 3rd Battalion Tactical Group.
Mykhailo is survived by his mother, wife, and two sons.
