Native of the Radekhiv area Vasyl Zinoviiovych Kuts has been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the conferment of the Order of the “Gold Star”. This highest state honour for the serviceman was bestowed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Vasyl Kuts has been serving in the ranks of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and has been taking part in the defence of the country.
In 2025, an assault group under his command eliminated more than 40 Russian servicemen and captured one occupier. Later, the commander organised the successful withdrawal of his unit from enemy encirclement, which had lasted for more than two weeks.
The serviceman has also repeatedly taken part in the evacuation of the bodies of fallen comrades-in-arms. During his service he has been recognised with several state awards, to which the country’s highest distinction has now been added – the Order of the “Gold Star” of the Hero of Ukraine.
