In the Velyki Mosty community, people are honouring the memory of the fallen defender Mykhailo Fedorus (callsign “Mario”), whose life was taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. The fighter gave his life for Ukraine’s freedom and independence in Donetsk region.
Mykhailo Fedorus was born on 19 November 1994 in the town of Velyki Mosty. He is remembered as a sincere, hard-working and responsible person who was making plans for the future, had started a family and dreamed of a peaceful life.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he unhesitatingly stepped forward to defend the state and voluntarily went to protect his native land. He explained his decision by saying that he had people to defend and did not want to allow the enemy into his own home.
The serviceman served in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was the senior gunner of the 2nd mortar crew of the 1st mortar platoon of the mortar battery of military unit 3002. Carrying out combat missions in Donetsk region, Mykhailo remained faithful to the military oath and to the Ukrainian people until his last breath.
On 16 July 2023, near the settlement of Yasna Polyana in Donetsk region, Mykhailo Fedorus was killed, giving his life for Ukraine. Mourning his loss are his wife, mother, sister, relatives, friends and the entire Velyki Mosty community.
For his courage, self-sacrifice and devotion to Ukraine, Mykhailo Andriyovych Fedorus was posthumously awarded the honorary title of “Hero of the Velyki Mosty Territorial Community”. The community bows its head in tribute to the blessed memory of the fallen defender.
