
In the Velyki Mosty territorial community, people commemorate Volodymyr Datskiv, a senior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war, who gave his life while carrying out a combat mission in the Mykolaiv region.
Volodymyr Datskiv was born on 25 April 1969 in the village of Kulychkiv. After finishing school and studying at Belz Vocational School No. 17, he did his compulsory military service in the army. In peacetime, he worked at the Elegal and Insas enterprises, and from 2008 as an underground miner at the Lisova mine. Together with his wife Svitlana, he raised their son Bohdan and daughter Mariia.
In 2015–2016, Volodymyr took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine. After the full-scale invasion, on 25 February 2022, he once again joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the country from the Russian aggressor.
On 4 July 2022, while performing his military duty, the serviceman was killed by wounds sustained as a result of an enemy missile strike on the battalion’s positions near the settlement of Vysunsk in the Bashtanka district of Mykolaiv region.
For personal courage and selfless service to the Ukrainian people, by Decree of the President of Ukraine of 6 September 2022, Volodymyr Datskiv was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III Class. He was also granted the honorary title “Hero of the Velyki Mosty territorial community”.
Years pass, but the pain of loss for his family, comrades-in-arms and the entire community does not lessen. The memory of Volodymyr Datskiv, his bravery and dedication to Ukraine is preserved in the hearts of those who knew him, and of all who live under peaceful skies thanks to the sacrifice of such defenders.
