Police Officer Andriy Dovhey Dies from Injuries at the Front

From severe injuries sustained at the front, police officer from Lviv region Andriy Dovhey has passed away.

Senior Sergeant Andriy Dovhey, who served in the special purpose police battalion KORD, was injured on May 26 during a combat mission in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region. “During all this time, he fought for his life, but the defender’s heart stopped on July 23 in the hospital,” – colleagues report.

Andriy was 37 years old, nearly 17 of which he dedicated to law enforcement service. He began in the convoy service, worked in the patrol police response unit. With the onset of Russian aggression, he unhesitatingly stepped up to defend Ukraine, participating in combat missions in the ATO zone. With the start of the full-scale invasion, he joined the special purpose police battalion KORD to defend Ukraine on the frontline.

Andriy Dovhey was professional, responsible, and devoted to his work. Colleagues remember him as a brave warrior, a reliable comrade, a person of great resilience, inner dignity, and high responsibility. For his diligent service, Andriy was repeatedly recognized with departmental awards, as well as the President of Ukraine’s Commendation “For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation”.

The leadership of Lviv police and fellow officers extend their sincere condolences to the family and close ones of the officer for the irreparable loss. Eternal memory to the Hero!
