Junior Sergeant Viktor Korol from the village of Volosyanka in the Slavske community has been posthumously awarded the country's highest honour – the title of Hero of Ukraine with the conferment of the Order of the «Gold Star». The corresponding decision was taken by Decree of the President of Ukraine, the Stryi District State Administration reported.
Viktor Korol served as a junior sergeant, commander of the landing and deployment equipment section of the airborne support of military unit A5025.
On 8 October 2025, the soldier was killed in action while carrying out a combat mission on the Dnipro River. He was 32 years old at the time of his death.
