A serviceman from the Lviv district was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
According to the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, sailor Oleh Khomytskyi was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the ‘Gold Star’.
Oleh Khomytskyi defended Ukraine in 2023. He served in the 38th Independent Marine Brigade named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi. He died on July 18 near the settlement of Myrnohrad in the Pokrovskyi district of Donetsk region. He was 28 years old.
