The town of Sokal is mourning the loss of Ivan Maryanovych Solvar, a brave defender of Ukraine. He passed away at the age of 50 and has now joined the ranks of the Heavenly Legion.
Ivan was born on January 18, 1975, in Sokal. He completed his education at Secondary School No. 4 in his hometown and later attended the Zolochiv Agricultural College. In 2004, he married Natalia, and together they raised two children — daughter Olya and son Nazarii.
That same year, he began working at the Danish Textile state enterprise as a forming machine operator, a position he held until his military call-up.
Ivan was drafted into the Armed Forces on May 23, 2023, and served in military unit A-9938, which belongs to the 3rd Border Detachment named after Hero Yevhen Pikus.
Key stages of Ivan Solvar’s military journey:
- March 7, 2024 — sustained severe multiple shrapnel wounds due to an enemy FPV drone strike.
- After several months of rehabilitation — he returned to active service.
- November 23, 2025 — received fatal blast injuries during a mine explosion.
- November 26, 2025 — his heart stopped forever.
Despite previously life-threatening wounds, Ivan remained steadfast in his duty and stood firm in defense of his homeland, never abandoning his post and always believing in Ukraine’s victory.
He is survived by his wife Natalia, daughter Olya, son Nazarii, parents Maryan and Nina, and brother Oleh. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and grateful community.

- December 2 at 3:00 PM — body arrival and prayer service at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Sokal.
- December 3 at 12:00 PM — funeral ceremony. Ivan will be laid to rest at the Alley of Glory in Sokal.
