The Drohobych community is deeply saddened by the death of Volodymyr Tkachov, a native of the city, who defended Ukraine against the enemy. Tkachov served as a grenade launcher operator in the military unit A5001 and sacrificed his life during a combat mission near Novohryshyne in the Donetsk region on 5 May 2026.
The Drohobych City Council, the executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and the council secretary Orest Karakevych express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Volodymyr Tkachov. His body will be brought to his home city on 13 May, where a citywide farewell will be held at the Crossroads of Heroes.
After meeting the cortege, the procession will move to Rynok Square, where a farewell ceremony will take place at 13:00. The funeral service will be conducted at the Church of the Holy Trinity at 13:30, and the burial will take place at the cemetery on Pylypa Orlyka Street. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero!
