Street in Hirnyk Named After Hero Andriy Kantsir

The Tarnavsky Street in the settlement of Hirnyk will now be named after Hero Andriy Kantsir.

This decision was supported by city council deputies on August 21 during the council session. The request to rename the street in honor of the 22-year-old Warrior was received from the command of the 77th Separate Airmobile Dnipro Brigade of the Air Assault Forces. Andriy Kantsir was an operator of unmanned aviation complexes and died on May 20, 2024, during a combat mission near the village of Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region.

During the session, serviceman of the 77th Airmobile Brigade Dmytro \”Khorvat\” noted that despite his young age, Andriy Kantsir was a reliable and motivated warrior, and his comrades could always depend on him. \”Andriy was a quadcopter pilot, effectively destroyed the enemy and mined approaches, and his crew was one of the best in our unit. The battalion commander always recommended him as one of the best fighters\”.

At the beginning of August, a public discussion on renaming the street took place in Hirnyk, and the village community supported the military initiative. During the discussion, city council deputy Petro Ostapyuk proposed to develop a Program for Honoring Heroes, which would include the creation of memorial plaques, information stands, as well as renaming streets in honor of fallen defenders. Mayor Andriy Zalivsky instructed to create a corresponding organizing committee, which will include veterans, city council deputies, and representatives of the Warrior’s House.
