How Lviv region communities supported Ukrainian defenders this week

Throughout the week, communities across Lviv region held dozens of charity events, fairs and volunteering initiatives, raising money, equipment, food and gear for Ukrainian troops on various sectors of the front, as well as supporting wounded soldiers and veterans.

In Zolochiv district, Zolochiv community handed over another batch of drones for the servicemen of the NGU brigade “Kara-Dag”. During the Zadvyria open championship “Play for the Yard” in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 6,690 UAH was raised on the final match day. Volunteers from Pomoriany community sent three camouflage nets to Dnipropetrovsk region, while volunteers from Zolochiv community put together a large consignment of aid including warm socks, trench candles, sleeping pillows, sit pads, food, hygiene products, tourniquets and medicines. Volunteers from Busk community once again set off to the military with essential supplies.

In Stryi district, the Slavske settlement council completed a fundraiser for a vehicle for a defender from Lavochne, raising 135,573 UAH and purchasing a car. Model car enthusiasts from Estonia and Lithuania, together with the charity fund “Oberig dobroty”, delivered five vehicles to Stryi, which are being prepared for dispatch to the front line. Volunteer Roman Prystash and friends organised a charity motor rally in Stryi for Defenders of Ukraine Day, raising 26,800 UAH and 200 dollars. A coffee machine has been installed at Sofia Holovko’s flower shop in Stryi, with all proceeds from coffee donated to the military — over the week, 8,000 UAH was sent to the RNC. Father Oleh Baranych and parishioners from the Polish town of Żyrardów purchased a pickup truck for the military.

Numerous collections were also held in educational institutions and churches across Stryi district. At Zhydachiv secondary school No. 2, a fair ahead of Defenders of Ukraine Day raised 60,677 UAH for the Armed Forces. Parishioners of the Church of Sts Volodymyr and Olha in Khidiv sent camouflage nets to Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. The parish of Archangel Michael in Rudnyky sent to Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Izium, Barvinkove, Petropavlivka, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia homemade food, underwear, sweets, fruit, cold remedies, hot water bottles, gas canisters and other essentials.

The women’s branch of the Union of Ukrainian Women in Stryi raised 60,400 UAH, which they used to purchase 50 Sich tourniquets and 10 Sigma X-Power 50000mAh power banks for an infantry unit of the 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade. Within less than a year, their project “Soiuzianky for Victory” has raised over half a million hryvnias for generators, freeze-dried food, charging stations, rechargeable batteries for reconnaissance UAVs, antennas, tourniquets and medical supplies. Staff of the Intensive Care Hospital subdivision of the SMOL Municipal Medical Association and the school in the village of Podorozhnye each donated 10,000 UAH to the RNC. Nursery No. 18 “Yahidka” in Stryi held its traditional charity event for the National Preschool Day and passed on collected parcels and children’s drawings to volunteer Nataliia Palenytsia. Pupils, parents and staff of Malodidushychi Gymnasium and its preschool unit put together a substantial load of essential items for wounded soldiers. Novyi Rozdil secondary school No. 3 named after A. Herhert organised a collection and additionally purchased treats worth over 3,000 UAH. Volunteer Denys Prokydianchyk delivered to troops of the 125th Brigade a charging station, power banks, anti-drone capes and food parcels.

The volunteer kitchen from Zhuravne prepared 26 large crates of homemade dishes and around a thousand retort pouches of food for seven sectors of the front. The community centre in the village of Verbizh held a charity disco, raising 16,900 UAH. The veterans’ council of Stryi district police contributed 3,517 UAH, and the team at Stryi Municipal Utility Company donated 11,500 UAH. The “Bdzilky” initiative group from the “ZAPEREIZD” neighbourhood in Zhydachiv prepared sweet porridge for the military. Volunteer Iryna Ivaniv-Levytska sent a night-vision device for a vehicle and treats to the Kupiansk sector, while Khrystyna Borys used donations to purchase 20 first aid kits, antiviral and pain relief medicines for 11 sectors of the front. In the village of Zarichchia in Zhydachiv community, during a five-a-side football tournament for Defenders’ Day, 6,000 UAH was given to the family of a local soldier currently undergoing treatment in Germany. The Lavochne educational institution raised 30,301 UAH at a charity fair.

In Yavoriv district, ten veterans from Novoiavorivsk community received portable power stations thanks to the organisations “Dobryi samarianyn”, Hope For Ukraine and Lviv Regional State Administration. Year 4-V pupils at Second School in Novoiavorivsk held a fair and handed the proceeds to volunteers of the “Misto Dobrykh liudei” initiative to buy a vehicle for the 1st Separate Assault Brigade. In Sudova Vyshnia, residents wove the 67th camouflage net at the local library, which will be sent to the front. Women from Yasnytsia prepared a consignment of homemade dishes for the front line. Maksym and Tetiana Berezniak also delivered vital assistance to the troops. Ukrainians in Spain raised 1,100 euros, which funded four FPV drones (50 euros remain in reserve). Volunteer Petro Shot handed over a repaired BMW X5, for which 155,600 UAH had been raised for repairs. In Novoiavorivsk, the youth of the Youth Centre at the Church of the Protection of the Holy Virgin organised a charity fair selling baked goods, souvenirs and handicrafts.

In Sheptytskyi district, parents and children of preschool No. 2 in Radekhiv collected 48,000 UAH at an autumn fair and donated it to the “Radekhivski hospodyni” charity fund. Residents of the village of Dmytriv in the same community contributed another 33,000 UAH to the fund. Pupils, teachers and parents of Ilkovychi school raised 8,000 UAH for the volunteer community based at the Sokal Vocational Lyceum, led by Nataliia Yurchyshyn. The funds will go towards repairs of drones for the 68th Separate Air Assault Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where Sokal native and lyceum lawyer Stas Makovskyi serves. Young people from the village of Polonychna raised 4,000 UAH for repairs to UAVs for the same brigade through charity dance evenings, and a further 22,000 UAH for a net-launcher for the unit of a local soldier.

In Sambir district, a fair at one of Sambir’s lyceums raised 50,000 UAH, which was passed to the city’s Army Support Coordination Centre. A charity concert for Defenders of Ukraine Day brought in another 4,300 UAH. Sandbags for fortifications were sent to troops of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade in Kharkiv region, while volunteers produced camouflage nets for the 37th Separate Marine Brigade in Donetsk region. For the 59th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade, Iryna Yatsenko delivered medical supplies, and Roman Yesyp provided military uniforms.

The public organisation “Volontery Sambirshchyny” raised 21,601 UAH during a “Football for Victory” match. Biskovychi community raised funds to support the 703rd Brigade, including 27,000 UAH for a memorial to fallen Defenders of Ukraine. The community centre in the village of Vykoty hosted an evening of Ukrainian song, raising 11,000 UAH, of which 5,000 UAH was allocated for the treatment of a local defender. At the community centre in the village of Sadkovychi, a music evening raised 4,500 UAH. Rudky community sent troops food, homemade dishes, honey, canned meat, hygiene products, medicines, camouflage nets, power banks and other aid. The community centre in the village of Pidhaychyky held a charity concert, raising 3,000 UAH. The gymnasium in the village of Mykhailovychi organised an exhibition of 3D products, collecting 1,600 UAH in donations. Individual residents also contributed: Oksana Ivasiuk and Ruslana Kruk each donated 1,000 UAH, and Volodymyr Hubka 600 UAH; in total, the exhibition and donations raised 8,800 UAH.

In Borynia community, in the village of Bittlia, the “Varenyk Festival” in support of defenders raised 84,135 UAH, 20 euros and 20 zlotys, plus an additional 5,500 UAH, and a further 11,400 UAH during a charity disco. In total, 101,035 UAH, 20 euros and 20 zlotys were collected. Strilkiv community directed the funds it had raised to support local resident Marian Yavorskyi and his comrades from the Halytska Brigade, purchasing a power station, a set of tyres, equipment and communications gear.

In Drohobych district, a charity football tournament for veterans at the main stadium in Truskavets raised over 14,000 UAH for the Armed Forces. In the village of Modrychi, a fair in support of the military brought in 46,700 UAH, which will be handed over to the reconnaissance platoon of the 3rd Battalion of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade, where local resident Ivan Holyk served. In September, lecturers and students of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University raised 64,790 UAH within the “Franko-drone” project and handed it to Volodymyr Baraniak, coordinator of the “Vulyk” volunteer initiative. Members of the theatre group raised 6,500 UAH for defenders at a concert. Private company “HalMiaso” supplied the military with a range of meat products. The “Gymnasium for Defenders” initiative at Gymnasium No. 10 named after Yevhen Konovalets saw pupils collect essential items, which were handed over to the “Volunteer Group Drohobych-Zakhid” charity. Roman Voitkiv, director general of the “Medovary” research and production enterprise, provided 50 litres of honey nectar for the troops, and volunteers from the Drohobych-Zakhid group sent to three sectors of the front insulation materials, cold and flu and antiviral medicines, and hygiene kits.

In Lviv district, Velykyi Liubin community raised 100,000 UAH at a FIЇNKA concert to buy an EcoFlow power station for defender Taras Myskiw, and a further 100,000 UAH at the Street Fest UA with Illia Naida to purchase a vehicle for defender Volodymyr Lobas. Volunteers Oleh Shturyn and Iryna Blashchuk bought an electric bicycle for 72,500 UAH for combat tasks in the unit of defender Ivan Ilchyshyn. A volunteer from the USA, Mrs Kelly, donated a laptop worth over 10,000 UAH for the official needs of serviceman Taras Koval from this community.

At the 81st session of Horodok City Council, the budget for the support programme for 2026 was increased from 50 to 54 million UAH. As part of free provision to the military, five Matrice 4T drones, one Mavic 3E, 34 Starlink Mini kits, 16 Starlink 3gen units, 33 power stations and 14 Chuyka electronic warfare systems were allocated, and 915,000 UAH in subventions was earmarked for five military units.

Educational institutions in Lviv district have also been actively involved. Vydnyky Gymnasium raised 36,510 UAH, and Vynnychky Gymnasium 31,300 UAH. At Chyshky Lyceum, within the 100-day “Living Values in Action” project, funds and essential items were collected for the military. The Honchariv branch of the Davydiv Lyceum named after Taras Shevchenko prepared aid parcels, with pupils of Year 3 among those contributing. Hanna Shostak, a resident of the village of Velyke Kolodno, donated 200 euros from her 70th birthday celebration to support defenders.

In Pechykhvosty, a “We Were Born in a Great Hour” event was held featuring a concert, a homemade baking fair and a raffle with prizes from local businesses, raising 95,000 UAH. Zhovtantsi preschool “Vyshenky” received 34,640 UAH in donations, and Remeniv educational hub school 83,770 UAH during a charity fair. A couple, Ihor and Myroslava Serdynetski, from Kamianka-Buzka community, purchased M/T 265/65 R17 tyres for an armoured LANDTREK used for logistics and evacuation tasks in a unit of the Forpost unmanned systems brigade on the Kharkiv sector. Ivan Franko Hub School No. 1 of Kamianka-Buzka City Council organised a Defenders of Ukraine Day fair involving pupils, parents, teachers, staff, local officials and student council members led by council president Mariia Vuykiv.

The “Pomsta Leva” initiative from Lviv community supplied the military with vehicles, generators, an unmanned aviation system, power stations, laptops, interactive panels and drone batteries worth a total of 11.2 million UAH.

Thanks to the joint efforts of communities, volunteers, educators, clergy, businesses and individual residents, Lviv region is steadily increasing its support for Ukrainian defenders at the front and wounded soldiers in the rear.
