The Yavoriv community has reported the death of 41-year-old defender of Ukraine Ihor Bohdanovych Leha. He died from wounds sustained while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Khotin in the Sumy region.
Ihor Leha was born in the village of Volia Starytska and lived in the village of Bozha Volia. He studied at the Nahachiv school and later graduated from a driving school. He worked abroad to earn a living, supported his family, and was known as a hardworking, kind and sincere person.
According to his fellow villagers, he loved technology, knew how to repair cars and computers, always responded to requests for help and never remained indifferent to other people’s problems. This is how he will be remembered in his native villages – as friendly and always ready to support others.
When the full-scale war began, Ihor joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and bravely fulfilled his military duty, defending the country. On 24 October 2026, during a combat mission near Khotin, he sustained injuries incompatible with life.
He is survived by his mother, for whom this loss has become an unspeakable pain. The community extends its sincere condolences to his family, relatives, friends and all who knew and respected Ihor Leha.
The farewell to the serviceman is scheduled for 29 October. The funeral cortege with the defender’s body is expected to arrive in Yavoriv at approximately 12:45 (near the old cemetery), after which it will proceed to the village of Bozha Volia, where it is expected to arrive at around 13:30.
The funeral service will take place immediately after the cortege arrives at the Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bozha Volia. Residents of the Yavoriv community are asked to give the fallen warrior a dignified final farewell and honour his memory.
