The Yavoriv community has reported the death of its defender, Serhiy Antonyshyn. The senior soldier, a rifleman in a motorised infantry squad of military unit A5338, died from wounds sustained during a Russian drone strike on the railway station in the city of Dnipro.
Serhiy Antonyshyn was born on 1 August 1985 in the village of Nahachiv and had lived in the settlement of Nemyriv since his school years. After finishing school, he studied in Novoyavorivsk, where he qualified as a bricklayer-plasterer. He worked, including abroad, cared for his family and built his life through his own efforts.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Serhiy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From the first days of the war, he took part in combat operations in the Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions. During his service he sustained a combat wound, underwent rehabilitation and then returned to the army.
On 29 October 2026, while returning from leave to his place of service, the serviceman was at the railway station in Dnipro when it was struck by a Russian drone. The wounds he received proved to be incompatible with life.
In deep mourning for Serhiy Antonyshyn are his parents, his sister Oksana with her family, his son Volodymyr and his extended family. The community extends its condolences to the relatives, loved ones and comrades-in-arms of the fallen defender.
The cortege with the serviceman’s body is due to arrive on 4 November in Nemyriv, the settlement that was his home. Residents of the Yavoriv community are asked to give the fallen warrior a fitting welcome. The exact time of arrival of the funeral cortege will be announced separately.
Eternal memory and glory to the Defender of Ukraine!
