The newest Hero, Andriy Mykolayovych Dotsenko, returns home to his native Yavoriv district from the front on a shield
Andrii Mykolaiovych was born on 15 November 1972 in the village of Porudenko. After graduating from the Kalynivka school, he studied carpentry at the Art Vocational School No. 14 (Ivano-Frankivsk). He then served in the army, serving in Kharkiv and later in the Lviv region.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, at the age of 49, he did not hesitate to go to the military enlistment office and on 27 February 2022, he stood up to defend his homeland. For almost three years of war, Andrii came home on leave only four times, each time for a few days. He always remembered his comrades, stressing that in these difficult times he was needed there, next to them.
And now he is returning home… but, unfortunately, on a shield, as a true Hero.
Andriy was a man of many talents. He was a great painter, had a knack for playing any musical instrument, and loved it. He took on any job: he made repairs, built fireplaces, and was never afraid of difficulties. Cheerful and cheerful, he always came to the aid of those who needed it.
He had infinite respect and admiration for his colleagues, and always emphasised that the memory of the fallen is sacred. Every time he came home, he would not miss a day without visiting the cemetery where his friends were buried. Andriy dreamed of the day of victory when everyone would return home and planned how he would play with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Natalia, sons Roman and Yurii, daughter Sofia, daughter-in-law Iryna, granddaughter Yelyzaveta and another granddaughter he was looking forward to. He is also mourned by his brother Oleksandr and sister Maria.
RIP
