Today, May 3, 500 bulletproof vests were sent from the Lviv region for the needs of the Ukrainian army. At the initiative of the Lviv Regional State Administration, the International Staff for Aid to Ukrainians and the Lviv Defense Cluster, the aid went to defenders in Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk.
At the same time, the bodyguards of the 103rd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are currently redeployed, as well as border guards will receive personal protective equipment.
Night vision devices (thermal imagers) donated to bulletproof vests by the Association of Ukrainians in Luxembourg.
“Last week we sent our boys and girls thermal imagers, rangefinders, that is, what they need most now. And today ammunition, tactics, transport, military clothing and food are going east. Ammunition should not be delayed in warehouses in Lviv for more than three days, otherwise it is a crime. The war is already underway, the need is already there, “said Deputy Chairman of the Lviv Regional Council Yuriy Kholod.
Every day from more than 40 countries 2-3 trucks are transferred to the Headquarters, where all cargo is divided into categories and then sent to the regions. By the way, some trucks with ammunition have already gone east.
“The military is approached by both military personnel who report needs and international organizations that can help meet those needs. And we, in turn, coordinate this process so that our defenders get everything they need quickly. We work with regional humanitarian headquarters, military units, territorial defense. Just a few days ago we returned from the east, talked to people who stayed there. There is a need now for everything: food, medicine, protection, and so on. So far, we have the opportunity to transfer as much cargo as possible to different regions, “said Hanna Krysiuk, the head of the Moscow State University.
The bulletproof vests were made by specialists of the Lviv Defense Cluster and donated to the Ukrainian army free of charge.
“All body armor of the fourth class of protection, which fully meets the requirements of DSTU. When the war broke out, we took our best model, simplified it a bit and started making it actively. The unofficial name of such a bulletproof vest is “Victory”. As of now, our defense cluster has sent more than 30,000 certified bulletproof vests manufactured in Ukraine to various units of the Ukrainian army, ”said Maksym Plekhov, Chairman of the Board of the Lviv Defense Cluster.
The weight of one body armor is from 8 to 10 kilograms, depending on the type of steel used during manufacture.
