Ukrainian soldier Stepan Mykytiuk, a resident of Stoyaniv village in the Sheptytskyi district of Lviv region, has returned home after enduring months in enemy captivity.
This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.
Stepan served in the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He went missing on August 24, 2023, near the village of Novoyehorivka in Luhansk region. For several months, his whereabouts were unknown, and he was listed as missing.
Only in February 2024 was it confirmed that Stepan was being held captive by enemy forces. Now, after surviving the most difficult trials, he has safely returned home.
Kozytskyi expressed his gratitude to the soldier for his bravery and dedication:
“Stepan, thank you for everything you have done for our country. Wishing you good health!”
The return of Stepan Mykytiuk marks another step in Ukraine’s ongoing effort to bring all its defenders home from captivity.
