Only after a DNA examination was it possible to confirm the death of Andriy Shevchenko, a resident of Drohobych, in the direction of Bakhumut

Andriy Shevchenko, a 31-year-old resident of Drohobych, died while performing combat missions to protect Ukraine from the enemy.

The sad news was reported in the Drohobytsk City Council.

Andriy Shevchenko was born on February 10, 1992. Lived in Drohobych. Graduated from Secondary School No. 4 and VPU No. 19.

In 2018, Andriy signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to work at VCH A-1108, where he was a chemical driver. In 2021, a resident of Drohobych resigned from the service. But as soon as the full-scale invasion began, he again voluntarily joined the ranks of the defenders of Ukraine.

Since February 2023, Andriy has been performing combat missions for the defense of Ukraine as part of the HV A-4010. He was on the Bakhmut direction of the front.

Unfortunately, on March 13, 2023, the defender died while honorably performing his military duty. Since then, a long search for the body continued, and later – DNA tests to confirm the identity of the deceased.

Hero’s family members include his father, mother, wife, son, sister and grandmother.

The Drohobytsk City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevich express their sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends and friends on the untimely death of the Hero – Andrii Shevchenko.

The arrival of the funeral convoy with the body of the fallen defender of Ukraine is expected tomorrow. The meeting will take place at the Crossroads of Heroes, after which a city-wide farewell will be held.

The funeral service will be held in the Church of Faith, Hope, Love and Sophia, located on Kozlovsky Street in Drohobych. The Hero will be buried on the Walk of Fame.
