Senior soldier Ruslan Sydorov from the village of Chanyzh, who for a long time was considered missing in action, has been officially identified on the basis of DNA examination results. The defender was killed on 22 May 2023 during intense fighting in the area of the village of Lyman Pershyi in the Kupiansk district.
Ruslan Sydorov was conscripted into military service on 25 February 2022 by the Zolochiv District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre, immediately after the start of russia’s full-scale invasion. He served as a senior rifleman-operator in the 64th Separate Battalion of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defence Brigade named after Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky.
The fighter saw heavy combat in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions where, according to the community, he proved himself a reliable and courageous serviceman, respected by both his comrades-in-arms and his commanders. After the battle near Lyman Pershyi, he was listed as missing in action for three years.
As part of the repatriation of the bodies (remains) of servicemen who fell as a result of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, specialists carried out DNA analysis, on the basis of which they identified Ruslan Sydorov. The warrior will forever remain 43 years old. He is survived by his mother, sister, brother and niece.
The Busk City Council expressed its condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen defender, stressing that his name will forever remain part of the community’s history. They have promised to announce the date and time of the funeral separately.
