
The Drohobych community has reported the death of Ukrainian defender Oleksii Bohdanov, a resident of the village of Nahuievychi. The serviceman was killed on 23 July 2026 in Zaporizhzhia region while carrying out a combat mission.
Oleksii Bohdanov was born on 23 May 1995 in the city of Mariupol. After completing nine grades at Mariupol Secondary School No. 34, he continued his studies at Mariupol Vocational College of the “Pryazovskyi State Technical University”, where he qualified as a gas and electric welder. He later worked as a fitter at a factory.
On 8 April 2021, Oleksii Bohdanov was called up for military service under contract by the Kalmiusko-Nikolske District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre in the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region. He served as a sapper in the 3rd engineer-sapper section of the engineer-sapper platoon of the engineer company of military unit A1546.
According to official information, the serviceman was killed while on assignment in the area of the settlement of Pidhirne in Zaporizhzhia region. While carrying out combat missions related to the defence of Ukraine, the vehicle in which the soldier was travelling was struck by an FPV drone, as a result of which he sustained fatal injuries.
The community notes that Oleksii Bohdanov remained faithful to the Military Oath and fulfilled his duty to the Ukrainian people to the very end. For his comrades-in-arms, he was a reliable warrior; for his friends and family, a kind, sincere and warm-hearted person. For his wife, the fallen soldier will forever remain a beloved husband, and for his family, an unspeakable loss.
Mourning Oleksii Bohdanov are his wife, son, mother, parents, as well as his wife’s sisters and brother. Drohobych City Council, the executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen defender.
The community has informed that the time of arrival of the funeral cortege with the body of the fallen warrior will be announced additionally.
