The Sokal community is once again mourning a tragic loss — a brave defender of Ukraine, 29-year-old resident of Sokal, Volodymyr Yevhenovych Liashuk, born in 1996, has died in battle.

Volodymyr began his education at Sokal Secondary School No. 4 and continued his studies at the Sokal Vocational Lyceum. After completing his training, he worked at the local “Nova Poshta” branch and later at the “Danish Textile” company.

In May 2023, he made the courageous decision to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a volunteer. He served as a third-category border service inspector and held the position of mortar crewman in the third mortar group of the first fire team at a border outpost. His unit was part of the 2nd Rapid Response Border Commandant’s Office of the 3rd Border Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhen Pikus (military unit 9938).

Volodymyr was killed on November 2, 2025, during a combat mission in the Kramatorsk direction, sacrificing his life for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.

The community expresses its deepest condolences to his mother Hanna, brother Oleksandr, grandmother Rozalia, aunt Liuba, and uncle Ruslan.

Volodymyr will forever be 29. He had many dreams and life plans, but the war took his young life before he could start a family or have children.

Details regarding the arrival of Volodymyr’s body and funeral services will be announced separately.

Eternal memory and honor to the Hero. Glory to Ukraine’s Defenders.
