49-year-old Bohdan Rybak from Sambir killed in action while serving in the ‘Shkval’ rapid response unit

The Sambir community mourns the loss of Bohdan Mykhailovych Rybak, a 49-year-old native of the city who died in the war against Russian invaders.

Sergeant Rybak served in the rapid response border commandant unit “Shkval” of the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He held the position of 2nd category border inspector and was a machine gunner in the 1st unit of the first border post of the second border department.

📍 On December 11, 2025, while on a combat mission near the village of Mykhalchyna Sloboda in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district of Chernihiv region, he sustained severe injuries that led to his death.

Mayor Yurii Hamar, along with the city council, executive committee, and employees of the Sambir City Council, expressed sincere condolences to the family, friends, and comrades of the fallen defender.

🕯️ Farewell Ceremony:

  • December 23 at 11:00 AM — the motorcade with the body will be met at Memory Square in Sambir, followed by a procession to the Farewell Hall on Peremyshlska Street.
  • At 7:00 PM — a prayer service (parastas) will be held.

⚰️ Burial:

  • The Hero will be buried on December 24 in the village of Luky (Rudky community, Sambir district), where his mother resides.
  • Funeral service starts at 12:00 PM at the Transfiguration of the Lord Church.
