On October 26, Bohdan Zmiy — a native of Sheptytskyi, talented Ukrainian engineer, and founder of ROVER TEK LLC — tragically passed away. Under his leadership, a robotic demining system called “Zmiiy” was developed.
During the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, Zmiy played a vital role in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities. His innovations helped safeguard the lives of military sappers and civilians alike by clearing liberated territories of explosive hazards.
The team he led created cutting-edge technology that has become a symbol of Ukraine’s ingenuity, resilience, and commitment to protecting life amid war.
Bohdan Zmiy is remembered not only as a skilled professional and patriot but also as a man who dedicated his talent to serving his country.
The community of Sheptytskyi extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
A memorial service (parastas) will be held on October 27 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Josaphat Church in Sheptytskyi.
