Ukraine bids farewell to yet another Defender — Vasyl Popovych (01.01.1977 — 17.09.2024), a soldier and rifleman-sniper of the 3rd Air Assault Section of the 2nd Air Assault Battalion.
Vasyl was born and spent his entire life in Stryi, in a large family. He studied at Stryi Gymnasium No. 10 and later qualified at the Stryi Vocational College. He worked as a general labourer and never had the chance to start a family of his own.
He was called up for military service in April 2024. The soldier’s life was cut short in combat in the Kursk region as a result of artillery fire. For over a year, Vasyl was listed as missing in action, and only now is he returning home on his shield.
We extend our sincere condolences to his sister, nephews and nieces, and all those who knew and remember Vasyl Popovych. Eternal memory to the Defender.
