The Drohobych community mourns the loss of Hero of Ukraine Yurii Khomiak, who died fighting against the Russian aggressor. The 35-year-old defender from the city of Kutermak joined the ranks of the Heavenly Battalion.
Yurii was born on March 29, 1990, in Drohobych and graduated from secondary school No. 14. He studied at the Mechanical-Technical College, majoring in programming. Before the full-scale invasion, he worked in the construction sector and later in wholesale.
In 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was wounded but returned to the front in February this year. Yurii was deputy commander in unit A-4447 and performed combat tasks on the front line.
*The hero died on February 17, 2025, during missions to defend the Homeland*, leaving behind a mother, cousins, nephews, and a brother-in-law.
