Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Dmytro Minaiev and Yuriy-Teodor Sosnivskyi
On Tuesday, 8 October, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Dmytro Minaev and Yuriy-Teodor Sosnivsky, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. The mayor’s office calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.
The memorial service and farewell to Yuriy-Teodor Sosnivsky will begin at 09:45 in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UGCC (2 Maksymovycha Street).
The funeral service for Yuriy-Theodor Sosnivsky and Dmytro Minaev will be held at 11:00 in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30, there will be a citywide farewell ceremony on Rynok Square.
Both fallen defenders will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
Biographical information on the defenders
Dmytro Minaiev (11.09.1996-29.09.2024). A resident of Lviv.
He studied at secondary school No. 73. He graduated from the State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Trade and Services”.
After graduation, he joined the military service in the 1st Galician-Volyn Radio Engineering Brigade of the Air Command “West” of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During 2017-2018, he performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation area.
After returning, he worked as a chef in a number of well-known restaurants in Lviv.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he returned to the brigade and defended the state against the occupiers. Subsequently, he defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of his homeland in the ranks of the 225th separate assault battalion of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Dmytro Minaiev is survived by his grandmother, mother and sister.
Yurii Theodor Sosnivskyi (04.05.1998-02.10.2024). A resident of Lviv.
He studied at the secondary school №86 in Lviv. Lviv. He graduated from the Lviv Professional College of Transport Infrastructure of Lviv Polytechnic National University. Subsequently, he entered the Lviv branch of the Academician Vsevolod Lazaryan Dnipro National University of Railway Transport.
During the last period, he worked at the Regional Branch “Lviv Railway” of the Joint Stock Company “Ukrainian Railways”. In his spare time, he was fond of football and was an ardent supporter of the Karpaty club.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he voluntarily joined the 2nd separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational and Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine to defend the state from the invaders. Subsequently, he joined the Azov unit. He performed combat missions in the eastern part of the frontline, and was awarded by the NGU command for his personal courage.
Yurii Teodor Sosnivskyi is survived by his parents, brother and sister.
