Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Dmytro Baba and Valeriy Serebrov

On Wednesday, 29 May, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Dmytro Baba and Valeriy Serebrov, who were killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral rite for the defenders will begin at 11.00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

He studied at the secondary school No. 62. He graduated from the State Vocational Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Computer Technologies and Construction”.

After graduation, during 2017-2021, he served in the dog training platoon of the 2nd separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine. He performed combat missions in the area of the anti-terrorist operation / Joint Forces Operation.

According to his family, Dmytro Baba was an exceptionally “loving, sincere, energetic and purposeful person, always ready to help; a great patriot of Ukraine.” He was fond of cats, cycling and computer games, and tried to devote all his free time to his family.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he did not stand aside and voluntarily returned to the ranks of the 2nd separate Galician Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. He performed combat missions to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in Donetsk region.

Dmytro Baba is survived by his mother, brother and fiancée.

Valerii Serebrov (29.09.1995-23.05.2024). A native of the village of Novodonetske, Donetsk region.

He studied at the Novodonetsk Secondary School No. 16. He graduated from Oleksandrivsk Professional Agricultural Lyceum.

After graduation, he worked in the Republic of Poland. In his spare time, he was actively involved in sports and was fascinated by the history of Ukraine from a young age. He loved the Carpathian Mountains.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he returned to his homeland and, despite his lack of combat experience, voluntarily joined the National Guard of Ukraine. He defended the sovereignty and independence of the state in the ranks of the 2nd separate Galician Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine on the eastern frontline. He was awarded numerous departmental decorations for his personal courage.

Valeriy Serebrov is survived by his wife, 2-year-old daughter, mother and sister.
