On Thursday, November 30, Lviv will say goodbye to servicemen Taras Pokora and Kyryl Bryukhanov, who died at the hands of the Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.
The servicemen’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.
Biographical references of defenders
Taras Pokora (22.02.1979-23.11.2023) Born in Lviv.
He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 72 and at the Classical Gymnasium at Ivan Franko Lviv National University. Received higher education at the Lviv University of Trade and Economics.
He was always distinguished by an active civic position: he took a direct part in the events of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. In peacetime, Taras Pokora was an exceptionally progressive person and a successful entrepreneur: he held the position of director at FABB Ukraine Limited Liability Company. He loved to travel, he was fond of speleotourism and rafting.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He first performed combat missions as part of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, later defended the state as the commander of an anti-tank platoon in the ranks of the 33rd separate mechanized brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to his relatives, his zeal, intelligence, courage and struggle for an idea were admired by many, including his brothers.
Taras Pokora is survived by his beloved wife, three loving children, parents and sister.
Kyrylo Bryukhanov (March 27, 1979-November 25, 2023) from Lviv.
Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 77 in Lviv with an in-depth study of economics and management. He received his education at the State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Food Technologies”.
After completing his studies, he served in the army. During the last period, he worked as a forwarding driver.
He adored active recreation and spending time with his family. According to his wife, Kyrylo was a very good family man during his life: an attentive and loving husband, a very caring father. He always remained kind and sincere, sought the best for his children.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the Motherland from the Russian invaders. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danilo of the “West” operational command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kyryl Bryukhanov is survived by his wife, four children, a granddaughter, parents, brother, mother-in-law and extended family.
