Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defenders Yuriy Lozynsky and Vitaliy Popov

On Friday, March 15, Lviv will say goodbye to soldiers Yuriy Lozynsky and Vitaliy Popov, who defended Ukraine from Russian occupiers. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony for the defenders will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Yuriy Lozynsky will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv, and Vitaliy Popov will be buried in the village of Vidnyky, Lviv region.

Biographical information on the defenders

Yuriy Lozynskyi (29.12.1982-03.03.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №90 in Lviv. He received the profession of carpenter at the former Art Vocational School №64 (today – State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Design and Construction”). At a young age, he was a member of the Altar Guard at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In recent years, he worked in the construction industry. He adored his work. According to his family, he was “kind, sincere and loved life.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invaders. He performed combat missions as a member of the 15th separate mountain assault Sevastopol battalion of the 128th separate mountain assault Transcarpathian brigade of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yuriy Lozynskyi is survived by his mother and two brothers.

 

Vitaliy Popov (28.06.1976-13.03.2024) A native of the village of Blahodatne, Volyn region.

at the local secondary school of I-III levels. He received his education at the Chervonohrad Mining and Economic College, and later entered Lviv Polytechnic National University.

He was a career military man, a staff sergeant. He served in the 184th Training Center of the National Army Academy named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi as a technician of the automation department of the information and telecommunications center.

He was an extremely kind man, he loved to fish. After the war, he dreamed of going fishing in peace. According to his comrades, he was “the best technician of the node and a good friend”.

Vitaliy Popov is survived by his wife, daughter and brother.
