Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Andriy Koval

On Saturday, March 16, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Andriy Koval, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical information

Andriy Koval (07.05.1998-12.03.2024) A native of the village of Hirske, Lviv region. Later, Andriy Koval’s family moved to Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №99 in Lviv. He graduated from Lviv State University of Life Safety with a degree in Fire Safety.

After graduation, he pursued his favorite hobby, landscape design. According to his family, “he was always cheerful and smiling, always making people smile and always ready to help.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invaders. He defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in the ranks of the 33rd separate mechanized brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat missions on the southern and eastern directions.

Andrii Koval is survived by his parents and brother.
