Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Ihor Koshlay

On Saturday, January 27, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Ihor Koshlay, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Later, at 12:00, a funeral service will be held in the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist in the village of Kamianopil, Murovanka community. The soldier will be buried at the local cemetery in the village of Kamianopil.
The defender’s biographical information

Ihor Koshlay (24.03.1973-07.01.2024) Born in Lviv, he spent his childhood and early years in his native village of Kamianopil.

He studied at the secondary school №79 (today – Lviv Gymnasium “Yevshan”). Later, he graduated from the former Secondary Vocational School No. 57.

During the last period, he worked in the construction industry. He was an exceptionally kind, decent and sincere person, a loving father and husband. In his free time, he loved to fish.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he was drafted into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and stood up to defend his homeland from the invaders. He served with honor and great courage in the 15th separate mountain assault Sevastopol battalion of the 128th separate mountain assault Transcarpathian brigade of the operational command “West” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Despite being wounded, he returned to the front and continued to defend the country.

While performing a combat mission, he was heroically killed in a heavy battle with the enemy.

Ihor Koshlay is survived by his wife and daughter.
