Lviv will say goodbye to defender Maksym Kot tomorrow

On Thursday, 30 May, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Maksym Kot, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

The soldier will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

He studied at the Provysin Gymnasium of the Lviv City Council. Later he graduated from the State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Trade and Services”.

After graduation, he worked in the construction industry in Lviv. He was fond of sports, particularly football. He was a multiple winner of the Lviv region championships and a prize-winner and finalist of the Ukrainian boxing championships. According to his family, he was exceptionally persistent, courageous and determined.

After the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine at his own request. He defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in Donetsk region in the ranks of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Maksym Kot is survived by his wife, parents, sister, nephews and goddaughter.
