Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Nazariy Marochanych

On Friday, April 26, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Nazariy Marochanych, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

In the morning, at 09:30, a prayer and farewell to the soldier will be held in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord of the UGCC (81 Shyroka St.).

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Nazariy Marochanych will be buried in the village of Lapayivka, Lviv region.

Biographical note on the defender

Nazariy Marochonych (10.10.1989-21.04.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №65 in Lviv. He graduated from the Higher Vocational School №20. After graduation, he served in the military in Brovary.

In peacetime, he first worked as a car mechanic, and more recently in the construction industry.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the invaders. He performed combat missions for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state in Donetsk region in the ranks of the 14th separate rifle battalion “Polissya” Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

For his personal courage, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Honorary Badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Golden Cross”.

Nazariy Marochanych is survived by his parents.
