Lviv will say goodbye to defender Oleh Makaryk tomorrow

Tomorrow, on 5 February, the Lviv community will say goodbye to Oleh Makaryk, who died defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s funeral ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service for Oleh Makaryk will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul in Lviv (11 Teatralna St.), followed by a city farewell ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Rynok Square. The defender will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical information

Oleh Makaryk (25.03.1988-06.12.2023). A resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school № 54 in Lviv, and later entered the State Educational Institution “Lviv Higher Vocational School of Technology and Service”. He studied at Khmelnytsky National University.

After graduation, he worked in the construction industry in Lviv. In his spare time, he was fond of cycling.

According to his family, Oleh Makaryk was “an exceptionally kind person who was always ready to help.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the occupiers. He performed combat missions in the eastern direction as part of the 60th separate mechanised Ingulets brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Oleh Makaryk is survived by his grandmother, parents and uncle.
