Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Oleh Popravka

On Wednesday, 25 September, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Oleh Popravka, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

The mayor’s office calls on residents to join the city’s funeral ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral rite will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, followed by a citywide farewell ceremony on Rynok Square.

Oleh Popravka will be buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical note

Oleh Popravka (11.03.2003-19.09.2024) Born in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro region.

He studied at Kryvyi Rih Gymnasium No. 75 of the Kryvyi Rih City Council. In 2020, he entered the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy and studied at the Faculty of Missile Forces and Artillery. He had a great reputation among his fellow students.

He was fond of military affairs. In his spare time, he was actively involved in sports: aikido, jiu-jitsu and volleyball. He was fond of fishing. According to his family, he was exceptionally honest, fair and kind, loved animals and had a wide circle of friends.

With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the ranks of the 28th separate mechanised brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign of the operational command “South” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend Ukraine from the invaders. He performed combat missions in the Donetsk region.

Oleh Popravka is survived by his parents, wife, sister and nephew.
