Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to defender Roman Babukh

On Thursday, July 25, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Roman Babukh, who died at the hands of Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 09:00 in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 09:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Afterwards, the funeral procession will go to the village of Dobrosyn in Lviv region, where Roman Babukh was from. The soldier will be buried in the village of Dobrosyn.

The defender’s biographical note

Roman Babukh (28.03.1988-20.07.2024) A native of the village of Dobrosyn, Lviv region.

He studied at the Dobrosyn secondary school of I-III levels. Subsequently, he mastered the profession of car repair mechanic in Lviv.

After graduation, he served in the military, first in the city of Velyki Mosty, Lviv region, and later in Transcarpathia.

He worked in the construction industry in Lviv. He was an extremely motivated person, devoting all his free time to building his own home.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the state from the invaders. He performed combat missions to defend the homeland as part of the 2nd separate Galician Brigade of the Western Operational and Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. He defended the state in the Donetsk region and was awarded the Honorary Badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Golden Cross” for personal courage.

Roman Babukh is survived by his mother, wife, daughter and brothers.
