Tomorrow Lviv Will Bid Farewell to Defender Sviatoslav Kravets

On December 30, 2024, the city of Lviv will honor the memory of Sviatoslav Kravets, a serviceman who gave his life defending Ukraine against Russian aggression. The Lviv City Council urges residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and refrain from organizing or attending entertainment events on this solemn day.

Farewell Ceremony

  • 9:00 AM – prayer and farewell at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Orthodox Church of Ukraine) in Dublyany (7 Zelena Street).
  • 11:00 AM – funeral service at the Garrison Church of Sts. Peter and Paul.
  • 11:30 AM – citywide farewell ceremony at Rynok Square.

Sviatoslav Kravets will be laid to rest at the Lychakiv Cemetery.


Biography of the Defender

Sviatoslav Kravets (September 21, 1977 – December 24, 2024) – a native of Lviv and a lifelong defender of Ukraine.

Key Life Events:

  • Studied at the Dublyany Support Lyceum named after Hero of Ukraine Anatoliy Zhalovaha.
  • Earned a degree in economics from Lviv National University of Nature Management.
  • Served in the Armed Forces in Crimea.
  • Worked in the banking sector, including at “Nadra Bank” and “Oschadbank.”
  • Actively participated in the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity.
  • From 2014 to 2017, served in the ATO zone with the “Myrotvorets” police regiment.

Sviatoslav also engaged in private entrepreneurship in the restaurant business, studied Ukrainian Cossack history, practiced shooting, and enjoyed hiking and nature.

Following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he joined the 107th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade.

He is survived by a daughter, a son, their mother, and his own mother.
