Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Taras Soroka

On Wednesday, April 24, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Taras Soroka, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical information

Taras Soroka (29.01.1979 – 18.04.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum №21 of Lviv City Council. He graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University.

He worked in the field of media communications at Lvivska Hvilya TV and Radio Company, Intermarket Trading Company, and Nova Liniya Zakhid Limited Liability Company.

Most recently, he worked at the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Music Academy.

In his spare time, he organized concerts, was engaged in sound engineering and fishing, wrote stories and painted pictures. According to his family, Taras was an erudite personality and a loyal friend.

With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he voluntarily joined the territorial defense forces to defend his homeland. Later he was transferred to the 33rd separate rifle battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he performed combat missions in Sumy and Donetsk regions.

Taras Soroka is survived by his parents, brother, cousin and nephews.
