Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Vasyl Lavryniv

On Thursday, February 8, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Vasyl Lavryniv, who was killed in action against Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s funeral ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, and at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical information

Vasyl Lavryniv (26.12.1988-01.02.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №98 in Lviv. After graduating from the 9th grade, he entered the secondary school №20 in Lviv.

Later, he received a degree in car repair at the former Higher Vocational School №48.

Before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he worked in the construction industry in Lviv. He was fond of cinematography. According to his family, he was “extremely ‘homely’ and loved to help with the housework”.

From September 2023, he served in the 142nd Training Center of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Vasyl Lavryniv is survived by his mother and brother.
