Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Yevhen Kovpak

On Thursday, April 25, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Yevhen Kovpak, who was killed by Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

The soldier will be buried in the village of Birky, Lviv region (before the burial, a funeral service will also be held at the local church of St. Volodymyr and St. Olga).

The defender’s biographical information

Yevhen Kovpak (31.12.1978-07.04.2024) was born in the village of Birky, Lviv region.

He studied at the secondary school № 41 in Lviv. Later he studied at the Lviv National University of Environmental Management. After graduation, he served in the military in the Volyn region.

In peacetime, he worked at a garment factory in Lviv, and during the last period – in the agro-industrial complex of the Republic of Poland. According to his family, he was an extremely kind and cheerful person, fond of football and fishing.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he returned home and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He performed combat missions to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state as part of the 68th separate hunting brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the operational command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought against the occupiers in Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

Yevhen Kovpak is survived by his parents, wife and two children.
