Tomorrow Lviv will say goodbye to defender Yuriy Lomov

On Saturday, 26 October, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Yuriy Lomov, who gave his life in battle with the Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine.

The City Hall calls on residents and visitors to join the city’s funeral ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations during this time.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Ss. Peter and Paul. Later, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square.

Yuriy Lomov will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.

The defender’s biographical note

Yurii Lomov (05.05.1986-16.10.2024) A resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №63 in Lviv. Lviv, then entered Higher Vocational School No. 20. He graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Printing. He served in the military at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After completing his service, he was engaged in the repair of collectible watches.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he voluntarily defended his homeland from the invaders. He took part in the defence of Kyiv, then joined the 110th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Major General Marko Bezruchko and fought against the occupiers in the area of Avdiivka. During the last period, he performed combat missions to defend the sovereignty and independence of the state in the ranks of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynsky of the Ukrainian Navy.

Yurii Lomov is survived by his mother, wife and 7-year-old son.
