Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to two defenders of Ukraine

On Saturday, November 11, Lviv will say goodbye to servicemen Andrii Kyrych, Andrii Slipets and an unknown soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

Farewell to soldier Andriy Slipets will begin at 09:00 in the church of All Saints of the Ukrainian People of the UGCC (32 Petliury St.).

The funeral of Andriy Slipets, Andriy Kyrych and the unknown soldier will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

Military servicemen will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of defenders

Andriy Kyrych (17.11.1990-25.10.2023) native of Lviv.

Studied at Lyceum No. 94 of the Lviv City Council. In 2008, he obtained a professional and technical education in the specialty “car repair mechanic of the 3rd category” at the Higher Vocational School No. 29 of the city of Lviv.

In peacetime, he held the position of freight forwarder at the Lviv-Moloko branch of the Ternopil Milk Dairy Private Joint Stock Company. Subsequently, he worked as a forwarding manager at Megafrukt Limited Liability Company.

He was fond of fishing, led an active lifestyle: he spent a lot of time in nature and traveling. He adored taking care of animals, especially cats. He loved his wife infinitely and dreamed of a son.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he actively engaged in volunteer activities and helped maintain order in his city. In January 2023, he joined the ranks of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland.

Andrii Kyrych is survived by his wife, relatives and friends.

Andriy Slipets (December 8, 1988-November 3, 2023) from Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 40 of the city of Lviv. He received his education at the Lviv Vocational College of the Lviv National University of Nature Management. After completing his studies, he served a term in the security brigade of the General Staff.

During 2014-2015, he performed combat missions in the area of the anti-terrorist operation in the ranks of the 128th separate Transcarpathian mountain assault brigade of the operational command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Defended the state near the settlements of Stanytsia Luhanska, Size, Nikishyne, Novoorlivka and Debaltseve.

After returning to civilian life, he worked first as a fireman, then as a freight forwarder in Lviv. He was fond of fishing and mushroom picking.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he returned to the ranks of the 128th Brigade. Performed combat missions on the territory of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Donetsk regions. He was awarded numerous awards for personal courage.

Andriy Slipets died on November 3 as a result of an enemy rocket attack. The Hero is survived by his parents, 10-year-old daughter, sister and niece.
