Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Andriy Shay and Valery Galushko

On Wednesday, March 22, Lviv will say goodbye to Andriy Shay and Valery Galushko, who died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

Andrii Shai’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The Hero will be buried in the village of Ryasne-Ruske of the Lviv community.

Valery Halushka’s funeral will begin at 12:00 in the Church of St. Paraskeva in the village of Hryada of the Lviv community. The Hero will be buried at the local cemetery.

 

Biographical references of Heroes

 

Valery Galushko (04/05/1984-03/16/2023). A native of the village of Hryada, Lviv region.
In 1999, he graduated from Hryadivsk Secondary School (today – Hryadivsk Gymnasium of the Lviv City Council).

Received vocational and technical education at the former automobile and road college of the city of Lviv.

In peacetime, he worked in the construction industry. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he actively engaged in volunteer activities. Subsequently, he fought against the Russian occupiers in the ranks of the 71st Separate Hunter Brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Valery Halushka is survived by his parents, wife and two children.

 

Andriy Shai (16.03.1977-06.03.2023). A native of Lviv.
Studied at Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko Lviv secondary comprehensive school of grades I-III No. 44. He studied at the Lviv Polytechnic National University. During his studies, he attended the military department at the university.

During the last period, he worked at Wood-Lviv Limited Liability Company. Professionally engaged in the production of objects from wood.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation stood up to protect the Motherland from the Russian invaders. Defended the territorial integrity and independence of the state as part of the A4030 military unit. Performed combat missions in Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.

Andrii Shai is survived by his mother, sister, nephews and brother-in-law.
