Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Andriy Simko and Serhii Shevchuk

On Tuesday, May 2, Lviv will say goodbye to two more Heroes. Andriy Simko and Serhiy Shevchuk died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Biographical references of Heroes

 

Andriy Simko (11.12.1991-29.12.2022). A native of Lviv.
Studied at Secondary comprehensive school #72. He graduated from the Separate Structural Unit “Technical Vocational College of the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”, later entered the university itself.

In peacetime, he worked at Nova Poshta Limited Liability Company. He was fond of technology.

Since 2020, he has been performing combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation area in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo of the operational command “West” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He met the beginning of a full-scale invasion on the front line, fought with the Russian invaders in the eastern direction.

Andriy Simko is survived by his mother, wife, son, brother, grandparents and godparents.

 

Serhiy Shevchuk (October 23, 1965-April 26, 2023). Born and lived in Lviv.
Received vocational and technical education at the Lviv Film School. After completing his studies, he served in the military in the Vinnytsia region.

In peacetime, he held the position of chief engineer in the former Department of Cinematography in the city of Lviv, later worked as an engineer in a local cinema. He was a skillful craftsman, adored technology.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he joined the territorial defense as a volunteer. He fought against the Russian invaders in the territory of the Kharkiv region and in the Bakhmut region as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” regional administration of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Died while performing a combat mission.

Serhiy Shevchuk is survived by his parents, wife, son, daughter and three grandchildren.
