Tomorrow, Lviv will say goodbye to Heroes Dmytro Lebedev and Stanislav Shmorgun

On Thursday, June 22, Lviv will say goodbye to two Heroes. Dmytro Lebedev and Stanislav Shmorgun died defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Dmytro Lebedev (May 6, 1986-June 19, 2023) from Lviv.

He studied at Lyceum No. 5 named after Ivanna and Ilya Kokorudziv of the Lviv City Council. Graduated from Lviv Polytechnic National University.

In peacetime, he was engaged in private entrepreneurship in the field of trade and services. He adored walking, especially in the center of Lviv, and had deep knowledge of the history of Ukraine.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the Motherland. Performed combat missions in Sumy Region, Kharkiv Region, and Donetsk Region in the ranks of the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the “West” Regional Department of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Despite the fact that he was seriously wounded twice, he returned to the front.

Dmytro Lebedev is survived by his parents and grandparents.

 

Stanislav Shmorgun (“Vyshnya”) (March 18, 1972-June 19, 2023) was born in Sudova Vyshnya, Lviv region.

Studied at a local secondary comprehensive school. He was educated at the former Lviv Police School (now Lviv State University of Internal Affairs). After completing his studies, he worked as a physical education teacher for a certain period.

He devoted most of his life to work in law enforcement agencies, and retired in 2013. Later he worked in the restaurant industry.

In his free time, he was fond of cooking, engaged in viticulture, adored animals and spending time with children. He was an exceptionally sensitive person, he had big plans for the future.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to join the ranks of the territorial defense. Defended state sovereignty and territorial integrity as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” regional administration of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Performed combat missions in the eastern direction.

Stanislav Shmorgun is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son and two sisters.
